Ms. Rosie Lovely Romulo and Mayor Joric Gacula leading the Oath Taking of members of Rizal PCDA

WOWLEAP, as the head of the Rizal Council of Persons With Disabilities led the launching of Rizal Disability Awareness Day (Araw ng Maykapansanan ng Rizal) in cooperation with the Rizal Provincial Government through Governer Casimiro Ynares III and the Municipality of Taytay through Mayor Joric Gacula. Concerned provincial line agencies actively participated in organizing the 2 day event, such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Provincial Social Welfare Office, Department of Interior and Local Government, DOLE, TESDA, Provincial Engineering Office, Health, Agriculture, Department of Education, Provincial Information Office, Akappinoy Rizal, VIBES and the House With No Steps. The big event was attended by more than 800 persons with disabilities and advocates from 13 municipalities and a chartered city. Ms Rosie Lovely Romulo, Chairperson of the National Council on Disability Affairs was the keynote speaker and led the oath taking of the members of the newly created Provincial Council on Disability Affairs. The council is envisioned to lead the formulation, implementation and monitoring of disability related policies, programs and projects concerning disability. A provincewide registration of PWD was also launched during the event held at SM City Event Center in Taytay Rizal.
